Atlanta Hawks: 2025 Offseason Priorities and Salary Cap Dynamics
I take a deeper look at the Hawks options to fill out their rotation while staying under the luxury tax, as well as potential team-friendly extensions for Trae Young and Dyson Daniels.
The Atlanta Hawks raised expectations after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021. They have since been a mainstay in the Play-In Tournament and haven’t won a playoff series. The Dejounte Murray acquisition was a miscalculation that set them back both in the present and the future.
They missed the playoffs again in a year where they didn’t have their first-round pick. But despite that result, things look much brighter than a year ago. They have a strong, talented young core to look forward to and a healthy cap sheet to build around it. Don’t expect anything drastic this summer. Their offseason will likely focus on continuity and development.
Brad Rowland joined the podcast last month to discuss the Hawks and their upcoming offseason. Trae Young’s future, Dyson Daniels’ extension eligibility, and their general roster priorities were all discussed extensively. It’s a good companion piece for this preview, which will focus more on their salary cap outlook and contractual decisions for key players.
