Could the Timberwolves Have Gotten More for Karl-Anthony Towns?
I speculate on if the Timberwolves could've gotten a better return for Karl-Anthony Towns by waiting longer. Also, a personal update on the ongoing fires in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Fires
Hey everyone. As I’m sure you’re all aware by now, there are multiple ongoing large-scale fires throughout Los Angeles County. It’s the most devastating event I’ve witnessed in my life. It’s heartbreaking seeing so many people lose their homes and wildlife perish. If you can, please consider donating to help fight the fires or to help victims affected.
I’m based in a part of Los Angeles that hasn’t been directly affected by them, though that could change with the trajectory of its spread. With that said, I just wanted to provide an update in regards to Third Apron. My writing output could slow down in the short term if I do need to take precautions. And even if I don’t, it hasn’t been easy to concentrate on basketball with everything going on. I hope you all understand.
The Minnesota Timberwolves hold a 20-17 record through the first 37 games of the season. In contrast, they had already secured 26 wins last season en route to their first Western Conference Finals appearance in two decades. Fortunately, they remain just 1.5 games behind the 4th seed, so they could still avoid the Play-In Tournament. Their great defense from last season remains intact, and Anthony Edwards has begun showing flashes of the dominant form that propelled their deep playoff run last season.
However, their season thus far has been marked by inconsistency and streakiness. Mike Conley has taken a significant step back and they aren't getting much from their young fringe players. But it goes without saying that the glaring difference between this season and the last is replacing Karl-Anthony Towns with Julius Randle. It’s one thing to trade Towns, but now I’m starting to wonder if the Wolves left value on the table by trading him when they did.
