Players with the Salary Incentives from Awards on the Line
I look at several players who could earn a higher maximum salary if they make an All-NBA team and which ones are on track for such honors.
The NBA world received unfortunate and frightening news earlier this week with the reveal that Victor Wembanyama has a blood clot in his shoulder. He is now ruled out for the rest of the season as he receives treatment for it. Fortunately, this isn’t considered career-threatening and the Spurs expect him to make a full recovery for the 2025-26 season.
One major implication of Wembanyama’s season ending having played just 46 games is that he won’t be eligible for any awards or honors1. Coincidentally, awards talk is in the air now that we’re just past the two-thirds mark for the season. So I wanted to look at some players with significant salary incentives on the line who may or may not qualify for them.
